Our prototype is a representation of an app called ‘iPlan’. iPlan aims to make it easier for people to manage their goals. Its purpose is to be a hybrid of a personal calendar, task manager, and goals excelling app. The prototype helps to define what the structure of the app will look like, where the buttons will go, what the colors will look like, and how it is to be interacted with. By doing this, we hope to gain insights and feedback on how we can further improve our product in order for it to appeal to the majority.
When thinking and designing the product, we made sure that it would make things easier for the users, making sure it suits the purpose, is simple, and is designed well resulting in an efficient yet presentable manner. We made the home page stand out with having all their goals there, and showing how far they are from achieving it, which aims at motivating them further. We have placed all the buttons in a different color that help them in standing out against the rest so that it is easier to navigate. We also added several micro-interactions to make the interactive experience even better. For example, when you hover over any of the buttons, a shadow appears underneath to show you that it is intractable. Not only this, but all the tasks that are completed are disabled, which show how far you’ve gotten and how close you are to your goal.
The key features of our app consist of numerous things. One of the main things that our app offers is the fact that there is a section for motivation that provides the user with curated articles. A person often feels a lack of motivation every now and then in their lives, and many of them are not sure of what to do. The app provides a way for people to be constantly motivated and allows them to reach their goal in a timely manner. Another way to motivate our users to provide them with a reward once they reach their goal. Once the user reaches their goal, they redeem points that allow you to eventually redeem discounted codes/coupons for what they desire. These features in particular would work well with users due to the fact that they have something additional to work for, they have more of an incentive. Not only this, but we have also made it especially easy for the user to be able to go into the app and find out how they are doing on their tasks for the day. This is done by bright rings that show a percentage of how much of the task is completed. This makes it easy for the user to be able to get in and out of the app with ease and can see all the essentials needed by just having a mere glimpse at the screen.
Our prototype is a representation of an app called ‘iPlan’. iPlan aims to make it easier for people to manage their goals. Its purpose is to be a hybrid of a personal calendar, task manager, and goals excelling app. We added several new features, and colors to make it interactive and exciting for new and existing users. We felt as though a huge part of today’s existing market is missing motivation, and so we wanted to address that by adding the points and articles feature. We made sure to have the most important information on the front page, and created shortcuts as well so that it would be of convenience to the user to get in and out of the app without having to spend too much of their time.
